AppearAI — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the AppearAI app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) collects from a Shopify store that installs it, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. It is written for store owners, not lawyers — if anything is unclear, contact us at geekfunbar@gmail.com.
What the app does
AppearAI audits a web page for “Generative Engine Optimization” — how well AI assistants (such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity) can read, understand, and cite your brand. You enter a URL, we analyze it, and we show you a score and recommendations.
What we collect and store
We only collect what the app needs to work:
- Your store domain (e.g.
your-store.myshopify.com) and a Shopify access token, created during installation, so the app can authenticate you. - The URLs you submit for an audit, plus any optional brand name and industry you enter.
- The audit results we generate (scores and recommendations), so you can view them again later from the History page.
The app only analyzes the public web page you submit — it does not connect to your store's admin, orders, customers, products, inventory, or any other non-public data. Its data footprint is intentionally small: a store domain, the URLs you choose to audit, and the resulting reports.
We do not collect, access, or store your customers' personal information, and we do not process end-customer personal data.
How your data flows
When you run an audit, the URL you enter (and optional brand/industry) is sent to our external analysis service (the “GEO Audit API”, hosted on Render). That service fetches the public web page at the URL you provided and analyzes it using third-party AI/LLM providers. The resulting report is returned to the app and stored so you can re-open it. We transmit data over HTTPS.
Your submitted data is used only to generate your audit report. We do not use it to train AI models, and the third-party AI providers that process it do so solely to produce your report.
Where your data is stored, and who processes it
- Render — hosts the app and the analysis service (United States).
- Supabase (PostgreSQL on AWS, United States) — stores your store domain, session, submitted URLs, and audit results.
- GEO Audit API and its AI/LLM providers (e.g. OpenRouter / model providers such as Anthropic) — perform the analysis of the public page you submit.
These providers act as our processors and only handle data to provide the service.
How long we keep it, and deletion
We keep your audit data while the app is installed. When you uninstall the app, your session is removed, and when Shopify sends the mandatory shop/redact request (approximately 48 hours after uninstall), we delete the store's stored data (its audits and session) from our database.
Because we store no customer personal information, Shopify's customers/data_request and customers/redact requests are acknowledged but require no data export or deletion on our side.
Your rights
You can request access to, or deletion of, the data described above by contacting us at geekfunbar@gmail.com, or simply by uninstalling the app (which triggers deletion as described above). We comply with applicable privacy laws including GDPR and CCPA.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access tokens are stored server-side and are not exposed to the browser.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be reflected here.
